Here at Loft Solutions we provide a range of solutions for all types of lofts, including the following:

  • Ladder & Hatch Packages - we fit wooden unfolding ladders, steel heavy duty ladders; fire safety rated ladders, and specialize in installing loft access in limited space situations.

    Aluminium or wooden ladders can be combined with either an MDF door fitted to the exiting opening or with a High Impact Polystyrene hatch unit

  • Shelving

    In a modern trussed roof we can fit shelving 610mm deep into the Truss 'V's. This makes for convenient storage of lightweight items. The trusses are usually spaced at 600 mm centres and the full-length shelf is 2.44m long so will span four truss spacing's. Each shelf is supplied & fitted for £40.

  • Additional / Fluorescent Lighting

    As detailed above the example package comes with a pendant light fitting & switch. You may wish to add further pendants or to replace the pendant with a four-foot fluorescent light fitting.

  • Sockets

    When fitting sockets we always fit doubles as the work to fit them is essentially the same as fitting a single.

  • Insulation

    The Government recommended minimum depth is now 270 mm, which is usually made up of two layers of 100mm and 170mm. In the area to be boarded the depth of the joists to which the boards are to be fixed limits the depth of insulation. If you would like to have insulation installed the following prices apply.

    100mm layer - £6.00 / sq metre

    170mm layer - £7.50 / sq metre

    This excludes the removal of any existing insulation, which would need to be priced on an individual basis.

  • Hatch Units

    In place of the MDF door we can re-size the hatch aperture and fit the HIP hatch unit. This usually means increasing the size of the existing opening. The dimensions of the HIP opening are 726mm x 562mm. The unit has a 45mm pencil rounded architrave and is draft proofed where it meets the ceiling.

  • Plasterboard & Sklm

    If you wish, we can fix plaster board and apply a plaster skim to any areas of the loft roof that you specify. This can be applied to the whole roof. Alternatively, if only a section of the loft is to be floored we can erect stud frames and apply plaster board and skim to them to partition off the floored area. This gives a really clean finished look to the space and can of course be decorated.

  • Velux Windows

    The most popular sizes are 55cm (w) x 78cm (l) or 55cm (w) x 98cm (l). These sizes are popular because Velux windows are fitted from the inside and size is limited by what can be passed through the hatch opening.
